Moats - Skin

Brilliant track from Moats. They released their promising album 'Singapore' and Skin is the best song on it. It starts slow and dark but after the drumming starts they surprise us with a battle of sounds and upbeat tempo. The somewhat wailing voice of the singer fits well. It's a perfect post-punk song. Remember this name: Moats.

Gentlemen Hall - Makes Me Feel Alive

Gentlemen Hall is a band from Boston, Massachusetts. They like synths, but if you listen closely there are lots of other instruments like a flute, glockenspiel and piccolo. Listen to Makes Me Feel Alive!

Placebo - B3

Placebo just released the 5-track EP 'B3'. We have to wait until next year for a new album. The 5 tracks on B3 are all a bit disappointing. Where are the days of great albums like Black Market Music or Sleeping with ghosts? I hope I'm wrong but I am afraid Placebo has lost track since Battle for the sun (2009). Anyway, let us know how you feel about it. Meanwhile here's the title track B3.

Atoms For Peace - Default

Atoms for Peace is a supergroap with a.o. Thom Yorke and Flea. They formed in 2009, but they name themselves Atoms for Peace since March this year. Now here's this hypnotic track. Thom Yorke: "You may have heard that I have a new project called Atoms for Peace. The name comes from some shows of The Eraser that happened a couple of years ago with Mauro, Joey, Nigel and Flea. We got a big buzz from them and discovered loads of energy from transforming the music from electronic to live, and so afterwards, we carried on for a few days in the studio and decided to make it a loose, on-going thing. Immersed in the area between the two…electronic and live." An album will follow next year.

Ladyhawke - Blue eyes

Pip Brown (Ladyhawke) is back with her second album Anxiety. It took the New Zealand singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist 4 years for that. Blue Eyes is the new single.

Race Horses - My Year Abroad

Album debut 'Goodbye Falkenburg' was very promising. The new single My Year Abroad of Welsh band Race Horses confirms this is a talented band. New album is called Furniture. Singer Meilyr Jones about the sound of Race Horses: "I think sound is so political. We wanted to have a no-style sound on this record, just let the music be as plain as direct as possible. People are used to hearing stuff in a certain way. I know I certainly hate the narrow palette in terms of sound, fashion and words that bands offer up to people as popular music. I think this is largely bands giving people what they expect. There are very little real, interesting, brave people making music. i suppose rock 'n roll in pop culture is something old, and by now has become hijacked and standardised and has lost most of its meaning in terms of being a radical expressive thing. I do think it is easier to be independent if you do not feel the pressure of doing things a certain way. Growing up in rural Wales, we were a million miles away from these expectations. The only expectation was to be good at guitar, like Hendrix, nothing to do with looking cool really."

The Heartbreaks - Polly

Very popular on Earbiter post-punk/new romantic band The Heartbreaks. Listen to & watch new single/video Polly.
