The Deep Dark Woods - The banks of the Leopold Canal

Roots. Somewhere beyond the farm of Ray Lamontagne, passing the studio of Fleet Foxes and miles behind the seventh house of Bruce Springsteen you get lost in The Deep Dark Woods. What a sad but beautiful voice. Stop doing things. Listen to this magical Canadian band. Album (yes.. from 2011): The place I left behind.

Garbage - Blood for Poppies

Garbage is back with a very catchy track. Garbage 2.0: there's more dance to it, but there's still the riffs, the drum loops and of course Shirley Manson. First single from their first new album in 7 years, "Not Your Kind of People".
Let us know if you like it!

Mirel Wagner - No death

Mirel Wagner was born in Ethiopia, and grew up in Espoo, Finland. She's 23 years old. A voice and a guitar, no frills, honest like the last recordings of Johnny Cash. Dark themes, yes. Mirel said: "I think it's a bit lazy to say that I make sad music. Of course you might say the lyrics are bizarre or dark. But for me, the songs are first and foremost filled with desire. And there's this hope in them that love overcomes everything. What I find sad is the soulless music that is on the radio most of the time, music that is simply product. If there is no life in it... is this not much sadder than a melancholic song?" Debut album: Mirel Wagner.

Honor - The anthem (B.A.N.G. version)

Don't wake me up for rap or hiphop. But this track is magic. The beat. The layers. Wow. B.A.N.G. is Dutch, Honor (producer of this great beat) is French. They're recording a record this very moment.

Kidnap Kid - Vehl

Fresh. Tinkling. DJ and producer. A rising star if you ask me. The kid: "I’ve been producing for about 3 years now. I’d been DJing for a couple of years before that so it just seemed like a natural progression. People lose interest in DJs pretty quickly unless they have music behind their name it seems. New EP: The Great Confusion. Bring in the Bass.

Spector - Chevy Thunder

This British band is named after one of the great (and criminal ;) ) producers of the world, but there is no wall of sound. Actually they could be cousins of the Vaccines or Pulp. Key words: dandy, synth, Britpop.
