How to destroy angels - The space in between / A drowning

Trent Reznor is sinds Nine Inch Nails eindelijk weer boven komen drijven. How to Destroy angels is een band samen met zijn vrouw Mariqueen Maandig en Atticus Ross. De EP staat op springen.

Sorry. Ik was erg druk de laatste week. Geen tijd om te bloggen. Ik beloof beterschap.

Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor and his new bride, ex-West Indian Girl singer Mariqueen Maandig, have procreated -- in the form of a new musical project called How to Destroy Angels. Their new EP is a fact.

Sleigh Bells - Kids / Tell 'Em

Oordeel zelf.

Next big thing? Totally addictive electronic dance rock, according to pop critics. Debut album of Sleigh Bells (Alexis Krauss & Derek Miller) is called Treats.

The Heartbreaks - Liar, my dear

Heerlijk liedje van The Heartbreaks, band uit Morecambe, Lancashire. Vorig jaar opgericht. Postpunk met new romantic en soulinvloeden.

"Bolt-from-the-blue mélanges of Motown's pop purity, coy vocals and innocent romanticism give The Heartbreaks a charm matched by strong musicianship and a supremely wry take on Punk rock songcraft. Jaded sarcasm, arcane language and rarefied romantic longing compete over stomping Wigan Casino drums, Jangle pop guitars and walls of feedback to create a sound that is part 60's girl band and C86".

Bowerbirds - Northern lights

Bowerbirds are a nu-folk band from Raleigh, North Carolina. New album: Upper air. Pure & simple, I'm playing this song over and over again. Wow.

Efterklang - I Was Playing Drums

Dromerige, melancholische Scandinavische pop.

Dream away again with Efterklang. Melancholy...

Ratatat - Party with children

Alsof Brian May erop meespeelt...

From New York City electronic music duo Ratatat's upcoming album LP4. Official Music Video coming soon, until then watch Fellini the albino parakeet. Song sounds a bit like Brian May on electro ;-).

The Neat - In Youth Is Pleasure

We want more.

The staccato vocals, the guitar riffs, these are The Fall's younger brothers. Kudos for The Neat. Neat, ehh, great song!

Primary 1 - Princess

Primary 1 krijgt wederom aandacht op ons blog. Misschien wel vanwege de vid. De Britse producer Joe Flory is Primary 1. We blijven hem wel ff volgen.

I think the vid is better than the song.

Tokyo Police Club - Breakneck Speed

Canadian indie rock band Tokyo Police Club will release a second album in June: Champ. First single Breakneck Speed will linger in your head.

The Chemical Brothers - Swoon / Midnight Madness

Het album Further staat op springen. Dit is de eerste single. Repetatief loopje in Swoon.

Swoon is a loop. Has to grow on me I suppose. From the album Further. 8 tracks and 8 video's. Till the release in june I can offer you a better track from 2008. Midnight Madness.

Acoustic:

Booka Shade - Bad love

Relaxte tunes van Booka Shade. Meesters van de Bliep. Nieuwe album heet More. Why?

Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier with vocalist and Get Physical labelmate Chelonis R. Jones. Works well but a bit dull.

The New Pornographers - Your Hands (Together)

A.C. Newman is terug met zijn New Pornographers. Het Canadese gezelschap maakt al jaren zwaar ondergewaardeerde liedjes, zoals The laws have changed. Nieuw album Together komt eraan. Deze staat er ook op. Zie de karatevideo.

The New Pornographers' latest album Together comes out today on Matador. The video Your Hands (Together) features Vancouver dance troupe Hybrid Movement dressed up as ninjas, executing karate-influenced choreography all over the place. Check out the video below.

Quadron -Slippin

Uit Kopenhagen. Robin Hannibal and Coco. Zij heeft soul. Hij is van de beats. Werkte oa met James Murphy van LCD Soundsystem. Bijzonder debuutalbum met de titel Quadron!

Robin creates melodies with lush orchestration and deep beats, intellectual and crisp. Coco layers these with her voluptuous timbre, together completing the sound of Quadron. Five years have passed and Coco's sweet soulful voice now perfectly accents Robin's instrumental skylines.

Balthazar - Hunger At The Door

Hunger At The Door ligt ergens tussen loom en vilein. Tof nummerke!

I state this once more: Belgian music rocks. Balthazar does. Album is named Applause.

Don't Ask.

New Blood Red Shoes vid Don't Ask. Again an indie masterpiece.

Dan Mangan - Road regrets

Nice, nice, very Nice.

He has toured and played with such artists as Elliott Brood, The Acorn, Patrick Watson, Said The Whale, Jenn Grant, Brett Dennen, Mother Mother, Geoff Berner, Great Lake Swimmers, Basia Bulat, Veda Hille and Hey Rosetta! Need I say more about this guy.

Lemon Sun - Touch the lightning

Rockband met veel soul uit LA. Album: Preludes.

Lemon Sun: The song was originally inspired by the brilliant journalist and author, Graham Hancock, and his book Supernatural. The book explores the evolution of human consciousness as well as means for furthering one's consciousness through natural means of meditation or through the use of shamanic practices with ayahuasca and Psilocybin mushrooms. We aren't saying you should be ingesting hallucinogenic drugs. That is your choice. But we are open to the idea of connecting with a spiritual world and that's what the phrase "touch the lightning" is meant to represent.
